Welcome!
Welcome to Casteel and welcome to my web page! I am excited to be a part of the Casteel Colt family teaching Algebra 1/Geometry and coaching the JV and Varsity Men's Soccer teams.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor's degree in Education (Mathematics) and am excited to be here at Casteel teaching in the school district where I got a majority of my education from.
I have been at Casteel for 6 years now and look forward to another successful year.
While also teaching math, I am also the JV head/Varsity assistant men's soccer coach and have been with the program for both their state championships in 2020-21 and 2021–22 years.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy is this: everyone is a student. No matter where we are in life, we can always strive to learn more from those around us. We all have different backgrounds and perspectives on things and I believe it takes a community to grow in our knowledge. And the classroom is just that, a community. We will all work together to grow in our understanding and through this all become better mathematicians at the end of the year and years to come.
The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Casteel High?
What makes Casteel better is that we are one of the few high schools where junior high students get to work with teachers who prepare students best for the next level, high school. My job is not to just get a student to know the content for my year but prepare them better for high school and I get to talk with those teachers daily. Our Algebra 1 team works with our Algebra 2 team to take advantage of the partnership we get with our high school teachers that other junior high schools do not get.
