Open Enrollment Overview

The Chandler Unified School District is a premier district of choice. Academic achievement is a high priority in the district as evidenced by test scores which exceed state and national averages. We pride ourselves on providing outstanding educational programs at all grade levels. Open Enrollment enables Arizona students to attend public schools outside their attendance area. In accordance with state law, the District has established an open enrollment policy and implemented an open enrollment program without charging tuition for non-resident students and resident transfer students. IMPORTANT NOTES:- All incoming Elite Performance Academy students will use the Elementary application.
- Incoming AJHS and Basha AMS 6th grade students will use the Secondary application.

Elementary Open Enrollment 2025-26 (use for next school year)

STEP 1: Elementary Open Enrollment Documents Needed
Open Enrollment Applications for the next school year, 2025-26, will be accepted beginning November 12, 2024, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Elementary Open Enrollment Documents Needed 2025-26
For students entering 1st-8th grade currently NOT attending a CUSD school, please have all the *required documents ready to submit with your Open Enrollment Application.
*Required Documents: Attendance Report, Report Card, Discipline Report (If your child does not have a discipline file, please request a statement on school letterhead signed by an administrator stating your child does not have a discipline file.) If these apply: full IEP, 504 Accommodation Plan, Gifted Test Scores.
Each document MUST be titled with your child's first and last name along with the file name. Only submit the required documents.
Please understand CUSD does not request student records for Open Enrollment Applications. It is the parent/legal guardian's responsibility to provide the required documents for a non-enrolled CUSD student.
* All incoming Elite Performance Academy students will use the elementary application.

STEP 2: Elementary Open Enrollment Application (2025-26)
Elementary Open Enrollment/Boundary Exemption 2025-26
The Open Enrollment/Boundary Exemption Application is NOT for school registration. Online student registration and information can be found by clicking here.
The purpose of Elementary Open Enrollment/Boundary Exemption is to:
(1) request an elementary school attendance boundary transfer for your kindergartner through 6th grade child, including Chandler Online Academy-Elementary (Kindergarten-6th grade).
(2) request Early Entrance into Kindergarten (child born 9/1/2020-12/31/2020).
(3) request a transfer to Elite Performance Academy in grades 3rd-8th grade located on the CTA Humphrey Campus.
(4) request continued enrollment at a Chandler Unified school due to a recent move within the State of Arizona.
(5) apply for Gifted Education.
If your child is currently on an Open Enrollment/Boundary Exemption, please DO NOT submit another application unless you are requesting a new school, or you have recently moved from an Arizona school boundary, and you're requesting to continue enrollment at the current school.
