Dear 5th grade Parent or Guardian,
Chandler Unified School District provides resources for teaching children about their changing bodies. This information can be helpful for children to learn about and discuss the physical and emotional changes occurring in the body during puberty. Use the links below to access the resources pertaining to Human Growth and Development. The resources in this document will be presented in the classroom setting. Students may participate only with signed permission. Should you choose not to have your child participate in viewing the resources at school, you can choose to view them at home with your child. You will be receiving communications from your school about the dates and times this information will be presented in the classroom.
5th Grade: Early Stages of Puberty
Early stages of puberty can begin at 8-9 years of age. Learning about their bodies and the changes occurring in early puberty can help kids understand that what they are going through is a normal part of growing up. The following resources can be helpful tools for families to use at home with their children. The Always Changing® Growing Up Program is based on national research and consultation with school nurses, health educators, parents and medical professionals. It has been a trusted resource for over 25 years and has been taught to millions of students nationwide.
