CHS Alumnus Annika Lagos Selected to Represent Folds of Honor Program

The Lincoln Memorial University women's golf program announced their partnership yet again with Folds of Honor, a military tribute treatment program to honor fallen veterans.

During each Lady Railsplitter golf event this spring, one member of the starting lineup will carry the golf bag of the fallen veteran that the team is honoring this season.

Junior Annika Lagos will be the first representative of the Lady Railsplitters this spring to carry the bag of the fallen veteran, Clarence D. McSwain, whose bio is attached below:

United States Army Sergeant First Class Clarence D. McSwain served his country honorably. SFC McSwain joined the military and served faithfully with honor and courage until he was killed in action June 8th, 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad. He was 31 years old. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Army Commendation and Army Achievement awards, and many other decorations. McSwain believed he was protecting his family and his country by serving in the Middle East, recalls his sister. This was his fifth overseas deployment in his 12-year military career.

"It is a privilege to be able to carry any soldiers' Folds of Honor bag due to how it is a representation of the legacy they left behind. The organization shows how we can continue to honor the sacrifices of our American heroes made by also helping out their families," Lagos said. "By doing so, I am encouraged even more to continue my education by helping others pursue theirs."
