CUSD Senior Volunteer Program
CUSD is currently looking for senior volunteers to commit one or two days a week to work with students in classrooms, libraries, computer labs, or school offices. Opportunities to speak in classrooms are also available. Seniors will not be aides but will provide the “something extra” that teachers need to reinforce instruction and give students more one-on-one attention. Volunteer responsibilities may include reading aloud to students and listening to them read, practicing vocabulary with non-English speaking students, assisting teachers with arts, crafts, gardening, and cooking projects, or sharing career or travel experiences in classroom presentations.
Senior volunteers are enriched and energized by their contact with young people. They believe in education and want to help teachers prepare students for the future. If you wish to volunteer or if you have further questions, please contact your local school.
