About
Roland...
Welcome to my website. My name is Rebecca Roland, and I have four wonderful adult children I spend a great deal of time with when not teaching. On my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and going to the gym. This upcoming school year, I will be teaching Culture and Community and English for Special Education students at Chandler High School. I am honored, to be able to work with such prestigious teachers, and work in a school that values diversity, inclusion, and more.
My Education and Professional Background
I have an extensive background in so many areas and have been involved with special education for 20 years. I have a bachelor science degree in psychology and a masters degree in cross category special education. Throughout my journey in special education I have experienced many different levels of teaching which included speech and language, inclusion, resource, and self-contained programs. I taught at Mesquite High School in there functional SCILLS program for two years, and the last 5 years at Chandler High School in their self-contained ABLE program. This year I will be teaching Culture and Community and English in the Case program. I am also very involved with Best Buddies and Unified Sports. I truly enjoy working in special education and am excited for this upcoming school year.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that education is an individual unique experience for every student who enters a classroom. I also believe that learning must begin with motivation, which will develop if I demonstrate enthusiasm and express confidence in my student’s abilities. My goal is to provide a well-rounded education to every student, which will include academics, life skills, communication, vocational training, socialization, art, cooking, and more. I will accomplish this, if I believe in what I do as a teacher, create different levels of learning for each student to be successful in, and be a team player at Chandler High.
