    Program Overview:

Passing health education is a requirement for graduation set by the Chandler Unified School District.  Health education focuses on an individual’s mental, emotional, social, and physical wellness. Developing skills that will allow the student to maximize their health throughout his/her lifetime.

    Grading Scale:

    90%-100% and an *Oral Report = A

    80%-100% = B  (not a miss print)

    70%-79%   = C

    60%-69%   = D

59%- and below = F, and you will need to repeat the course.

    Grading System:

Competencies and other course requirements will be evaluated through a point system based on the following: tests/quizzes, text work, class participation, daily activities and other assignments at teacher’s or guest speakers discretion.  This system includes both subjective and objective methods of evaluation.

*The Oral Report is on of the two requirements for obtaining an “A” in this course.  The report illustrates that the student has mastered a topic that relates to the course curriculum.  All students, regardless of the grade desired, will be encouraged and motivated to give an oral report.  A complete handout and description of the oral report is available anytime and will be passed out weeks prior to due date.

    Attendance:

                Tardies:

Administration and security will be sweeping students who are not in class         on time.  If you are “caught in a sweep” and you missed a quiz/test or assignment you must come into room 802 promptly after school at 2:20 p.m. that same day in order to get caught up with missed work.

If you are “caught in a sweep” and an assignment is due, be sure to give that assignment to the sweep monitor at the beginning of the period.

Note:  Same procedures apply for ISD.

                Unexcused absences:

If you have an unexcused absence you will not receive any credit for work that day.

    Attendance incentive program:

If you have no more than 4absences (excused or unexcused) with a letter grade 75% or better in the class, you may be exempt from taking the final exam.

School sponsored events are not counted as an absence ( ie. Field trips ).

You still must be present for the final exam, even if you are not required to take the exam.

    Classroom Rules:

    1.                  Respect for people and property is that name of the game every day all day.

    2.                  Do not play with your electronics.

    3.                  Remember rule #1.

You have been attending school for 9-12 years by now, as a result:

You know what to bring to class everyday

You know what behavior is expected

You know not to use your phone or other electronic device in class

Thank you for your co-operation and lets stay healthy!
