Indigenous Heritage Month Celebration 2024
-
The Indigenous Heritage Month Celebration at West Alley Bar-be-que in Chandler was a success. We had several leaders from Chandler Unified as well as the Chandler Community. We learned a lot of history and funny stories from different tribes. Plus, we were serenaded by great musicians.

Chandler Unified School District celebrates Indigenous Excellence. Where we honored 14 High School Indigenous Students for the National Recognition Award. We also recognized our CUSD Indigenous Parent Group. Lastly, we closed our presentation with the Generational Dance Performance – The Jingle Dance.
CUSD celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at the September 11, 2024 Board Meeting

CUSD wanted to honor a few of our Hispanic "And Then Some" staff members who are Pioneers of Change: Shaping our Future Together. While the students recited the poem "I am Joaquin", and the sister and brother duo wrapped up our presentation.
Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Celebration continues...

What a time we had at Kim Thao Bakery Food to Go celebrating the Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Thanks so much, Thao for having and serving us some delicious food. We will definitely come back to visit and eat. We do appreciate the Superintendent of CUSD, the Mayor of Chandler, School Board Members, Intel sponsors, CUSD Principals, Teachers and Staff Members, and Family & Friends who came out to support.
CUSD celebrated the Asian American Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

On May 8, 2024, at the Governing Board Meeting, CUSD celebrated the Asian American Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Staff members & students were honored and given certificates by Mr. Frank Narducci. While Mr. Ty Ng closed out our presentation with a Lion Dance.
Black History Month with Black Student Union & Renee Moon

During the February 14 Governing Board meeting, CUSD was proud to recognize Black History Month with Black Student Union student members from all of our high schools. Staff member Renee Moon was also honored for 25 years at CUSD, and Chandler High School's BSU Sol Steppers performed!
Black History Month at West Valley BBQ in Chandler

What a time we had at West Valley BBQ in Chandler. We had Chandler Unified School District Superintendent, Frank Narducci, CUSD Ass. Superintendent, Dr. Craig Gilbert, Chandler's Mayor, Kevin Hartke and Vice Mayor, OD Harris and Jennifer Sanchez from Intel were there to celebrate with us. Great conversations, laughter and great food was enjoyed by all that attended.
Celebrating Indigenous Night at the CUSD Board Meeting

Chandler Unified School District recognizes Indigenous Heritage Month during the Governing Board meeting. The students led the presentation which celebrated one of our very own staff members, Sandra Casoose, as well as all of the CUSD teachers, and several CUSD seniors and their tribes from all of the high schools. A proclamation was shared and a family from Bogle Jr. High did a fancy war and jingle dance which started our presentation.
