Chandler Unified is pleased to announce that through the Community Eligibility Provisions (CEP) of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, 9 qualifying schools will be able to provide breakfast and lunch to their students at no charge effective immediately.
All students enrolled at any of these schools may receive one breakfast meal and one lunch meal at no charge every school day. Free and Reduced meal applications are not required at these sites.

Please Note: Although this update ensures that CUSD families will not accrue school meal debt moving forward, parents/guardians who accrued school meal debt prior to July 1st 2024 will still be responsible for payment. Families who have a school meal debt balance will still receive emails and letters in the mail alerting them of a balance due.

What is Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)?
Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is part of the USDA’s National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, which allows qualifying schools to provide meals at no charge to all students.
When does CEP go into effect, and when does it expire?
This CEP update is effective July 17, 2024 and is approved through June 30, 2028. *4-year cycle* This CEP update is retroactive as of July 17th, 2024 and is approved through June 30, 2028.

My child's school is not on the CEP list. Do I still need to fill out a Free & Reduced Meal application?
Yes. Our meal pricing guidelines remain in effect at non-CEP schools. To fill out a Free & Reduced Meal Application, please visit www.myschoolapps.com
My school is CEP eligible. Do I still need to fill out a Free & Reduced Meal application for my child?
Free & Reduced Meal applications are no longer required or accepted at CEP schools. For specific questions, please call 480-812-7240
What happens to the money in my child's meal account?
Students can use the funds in their meal accounts to purchase a second meal or à la carte items.
If families have already pre-paid the student meal account, can they request a refund, transfer or donation?
Yes. Families may request a refund, transfer to a sibling or donate the money on account by emailing nutrition@cusd80.com Please include student name, grade and what to do with the money on account (refund, transfer or donation) If requesting a refund please also include who to make the check out to and the address you would like us to send the check to.
What if my student has a negative meal account at the current time?
The negative balance is still active, and you will receive notifications & reminders to pay back that owed amount. Please contact your café manager to set up a plan for payment if you cannot take care of the entire amount at one time.
