    Welcome!

Hi, I’m Dick Percy and I’m so excited to be teaching 5th grade here at Elite Performance Academy. I’m grateful to have an opportunity to work with your child during this school year. I really enjoy being a teacher and love to see my students have a passion for learning and towards life. I’m fortunate to have another job well. I work for Arizona State University-Gammage Auditorium as an Assistant House Manager. When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my wonderful family. I have a beautiful wife and best friend named Lizzy. We have been blessed with two amazing children. Our daughter is Harlow-Audrey (Hyphenated Name) and is she named after Jean Harlow & Audrey Hepburn. Next, is our son Richard Andrew “Drew” Percy III and he was born on my birthday. I could not have asked for a better birthday gift. We wrap our family up with our Sonoran Desert tortoise named Rey-Anne. In our spare time, we enjoy going to the movies, attending concerts (Taylor Swift), watching plays, traveling to see our families, and discovering new places together. No matter what we do or where we go, we always seem to have a great time!

    My Education and Professional Background

This is my second year at Elite Performance Academy and I feel very honored to be a part of such a wonderful school community.  Prior to EPA, I have taught for eighteen years at CTA-Humphrey Elementary located on the same campus.  Before coming to CTA-Humphrey, I have taught in the Chandler Unified School District for six years at Galveston Elementary School and in the private school setting as well.  Over the years, I have taught preschool and everything from first-sixth grades.  I've also had the pleasure of being an education professor at Chandler-Gilbert Commnunity College for seven years.  I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood.  In May of 2002, I graduated with my Master's degree in Educational Leadership (Administration) from Northern Arizona University.  I've also graduated from Mesa Community College with an AAS degree in Fire Science.  I have lived in Arizona since I was a year old.  As a child, I attended schools in the Chandler Unifed School District, Mesa Public Schools, and the Gilbert Public School District.

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe that teaching children requires a lot of TLC (tender, loving, and care), and an environment where they feel accepted and are able to make mistakes without being embarrassed. I want each and every student to feel important and to be successful. I feel this takes a consistent and supportive environment where the students feel safe and are able to change and grow. I encourage my students to challenge themselves and to never give up. I want the students to know I am here to help them, but they also have to be willing to help themselves.
