Welcome to Hill Learning Academy. I believe it is essential that each student is given the opportunity to be successful. We all learn differently, and it is important that a variety of opportunities are available to each student. We provide that here at Hill. I look forward to working with you during the school year. My Education and Professional Background
This is my 17th year in education. I am originally from Colorado, where I graduated with a BA from the University of Denver and a MCJ from the University of Colorado at Denver. My family and I moved to Arizona in 2001. I worked in law enforcement for 12 years prior to switching to education. My education career began in 2005 with the Higley Unified District. Over the years, I have taught grades 2-12 and enjoyed each grade level for different reasons. This is my 6th year at Hill Academy and have no plans in leaving any time soon. I thoroughly enjoy working with the students, staff and administration and look forward to an exciting new school year.
My Educational Philosophy
Education is important and can be tailored to meet the needs of each learner. I believe that everyone can learn, we just need to find the best way to get there. We are not all designed to go to college, but we all have skills that can benefit society. I feel that my goal as a teacher is to assist a student to get to where they want and need to be. It might be listening to a story about what happened at work, or explaining how to correctly write a sentence, or assisting with a job application. My hope is that students are happy, productive, and successful members of society and share that positivity with the next generation.
