Hull Elementary (2021-2022)
Hull Elementary third graders learned about Native Americans using natural resources to build shelters. They constructed their own waterproof roof using only natural resources. This project and others will be on display at Chandler Innovation Fair!

Hull Elementary second graders in Heidi Raaf's class read the story, Olive, the Other Reindeer then were challenged with a STEM project. The kids had to create a flying "contraption" with one piece of paper and attach Olive (the dog) to see whose "reindeer" would fly the farthest. They could also use tape, 1 piece of yarn, and one paperclip, if needed.

Buddy the Elf (A.K.A. Principal Josh Cagle) spent the day at Hull Elementary on Dec. 16 and assisted with student drop off/pick up, and the annual holiday fun run! Students really enjoyed having such a special guest on campus all day!

At the Hull Elementary, spelling bee sisters take the top spots. Fifth grader Julianna Changho won the bee, and her sister sixth grader Angelie Changho was the runner-up/alternate.

STEM and literacy! Third grade students at Hull Elementary are building a window sill strong enough to hold a pie! Just like in the story they read "The Trial of Cardigan Jones."

Hull Elementary first graders in Jaime Breedlove's classroom studied the parts of a plant and what each part does. They conducted an experiment to see how water travels up the stem into the flower. Additionally, second graders in Heidi Raaf's classroom had a fun STEM project to create their own flowers after learning about flowers and all their parts.

Hull second graders in Dana Bond's classroom are reading all about dinosaur fossils in their story "The Dog that Dug for Dinosaurs!" Students made imprints in clay to bring the story to life!

Congratulations to Parker Summers who won Honorable Mention in Engineering, Elementary Division (5th - 6th Grade) at the 2021 Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair (HISEF) for the project titled "The Bigger I Am the Further I Go"

Hull Elementary students Brandon Moss and Karina Parris joined the Carlson Elementary Chandler Sports League volleyball team winning the CSL Championship. Their team was undefeated the whole season.

Hull Elementary students in Dana Bond's class were following the scientific method. The posed a question, made a prediction, and tested their hypothesis. They predicted what would happen if they mixed a peep with baking soda and vinegar!

Hull Elementary students in Jamie Breedlove's first grade class are using a tree map to organize information they learn from researching animals and plants in their different habitats. Students use QR codes to take them to different information about the habitats.

Hull Elementary fourth graders in Jennifer Benzer's classroom created posters for a race in their story The Black Stallion. Students' posters had to include graphics and phrases that would make people want to attend the race.

Hull second graders are off "traveling the world!" They will be visiting several countries, learning all about their culture and traditions. Students in Debbie Chamberlain and Jessalyn Muraco's classes held a fashion show after learning about France. Students in Dana Bond's classroom just returned from Mexico.

Congratulations to Leo Caruso of Hull Elementary who won 3rd place at the 2021 Chandler Unified School District Spelling Bee on February 2. Leo will advance with the other top 10 spellers to the Maricopa Region 6 Virtual Spelling Bee to be held on Tuesday, February 16. Good luck!

Second graders from Heidi Raaf and Helen Minor's class learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his amazing contributions. Students created a picture of Dr. King, some drew on paper, others illustrated online! Additionally, after learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, students in Amber Albertini's and Amy Armstrong's class wrote down their dreams!

Students in Heidi Raaf's classroom wrote a persuasive paragraph with supportive reasoning on which three books they really wanted from the December Scholastic book order. Students received the ONE book they wanted the most! (Thanks toCommunity Donations)

Sixth grade students in Jennifer Best's CATS class worked on their "Build A City" Project: Based on the novel The Girl Who Owned a City, students were challenged to build a sustainable city that would meet the current and future needs of its young population.

The annual Turkey Bowl at Hull Elementary was a little different this year with only sixth grade students, and no fans to cheer them on. It was still a great time. Everybody won, and principal Josh Cagle refereed.
