a       Open a book and see the world.

Each evening for homework, Monday thru Thursday, your child will be expected to read a quality A.R. grade level appropriate reading book. Please be aware that time is also set aside for SSR (sustained silent reading) at school during the week. If your child is engaged in reading as asked at home and school, they will be successful in obtaining their AR test goal each week :)

To help ensure that each student is able to successfully meet their weekly goal of reading a book, the following suggestion might be helpful. Students may wish to divide the number of
    pages by 5 (if reading 5 days/wk) or by 7 (if reading 7 days/wk).

For example, if a student is reading Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, which has 137 pages, they will read 28 pages (reading 5 days/wk) or 20 pages (reading 7 days/wk). If following this strategy, the student will be prepared to take and pass their required AR test within a required period of time. AR reading is associated with classwork and homework completion.
