    Nightly Homework Expectations
    We will have homework on Monday through Thursday. Homework is assigned to reinforce concepts learned in class and to establish independent learning skills. Below you will discover an outline of the weekly homework. If you have any questions or concerns on the homework, please email me.  
     
    Monday:
    • Spelling test at home for the first ten words or study any way you wish
    • Math Homework -assigned Math book pages and intermittent fact practice
    • Comprehension practice or language sheet(s)
    • Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log on front of the homework packet
       *Study any missed phonograms from in-class Written Phonogram Review (WPR)
    • Parent signature on homework packet signifies that a parent has checked for QUALITY work on all pages
    Tuesday:
    • Spelling test at home for the second ten words or study any way you wish
    •  
      Math Homework -assigned Math book pages and intermittent fact practice
    •  
      Comprehension practice or language sheet(s)
    • Read for 20 minutes and fill out reading log on front of the homework packet
       *Study any missed phonograms from in-class Written Phonogram Review (WPR)
    • Parent signature on homework packet signifies that a parent has checked for QUALITY work on all pages
    Wednesday:
    • Spelling test for the last ten words at home or study any way you wish  KEEP IN MIND...  There will be NO Spelling Pre-Test on Thursday. Students will be tested on 30 phonograms and be given two spelling dictation sentences with multiple spelling words from the week.  Make sure words are known for Thursday!!! Dictation sentences count as spelling grades as well as grammar grades

    • In-Class 30 phonogram test and two spelling dictation sentences
    • Study for 30 spelling word test on Friday

    Absent and Late Work - It is required that all assignments be completed.  All students shall be provided one day for each absent day to make up missed assignments, not including long-term assignments. Work not completed by the assigned time shall be considered late; however, teachers shall use their discretion to determine guidelines in acceptance of late assignments due to extenuating circumstances.
     
    Homework Rubric
    Homework will be graded on a 5 point scale as follows:
    1 point            Language/reading comprehension sheets
    1 point            Math (all pages sent home were completed including 100 fact pages)
    1 point            20 minutes of Reading logged on the homework cover
    1 point            Parent signature signifying that all work has been checked for correction and quality
    1 point            2nd-3rd grade quality of work (pride was taken to present neat and best work)
     
    If there are any questions regarding any homework problem, please make a note of it. I will gladly go over a concept one-on-one or in a whole group setting. Use the parent comment area on the homework cover to communicate with me. I will check homework during teacher/student conference or Specials' time.
