    Welcome to Ms. Risinger’s 4th grade class at Frye Elementary! I am excited to be your teacher, and look forward to a fun and productive year together. Be ready to learn and grow this year!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I am a proud ASU Alumni, where I studied Family and Human Development, with a primary focus on child development. Prior to becoming an elementary school teacher, I taught swim lessons/coached teams, as well as taught CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding to classes of children and adults. Before that, I was a Firefighter and EMT in Michigan, where I grew up.

    I have spoken at many national conferences on topics such as teaching and engaging children, working with different parenting styles, brain development, movement and learning, as well as others.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe every child has a desire to learn and I feel it is important to create a safe environment where mistakes are celebrated as much as mastery and every child feels like they can be their authentic self.

    In addition, I feel a student centered lessons are the best way to promote learning and support children of all levels.

    Finally, I believe the parents/guardians, the teacher, and the students must work as a team to make this a successful year, and help students achieve their highest potential. Together we can do great things!
