Welcome!
I love being a reading specialist and helping the Battle of the Books Teams at Frye Elementary School. If you are looking for a great book to read, just ask, I have plenty to recommend! ! I love teaching reading and my students have heard me say many times that I have the best job in the whole world!
My Education and Professional Background
I attended Western Washington University and completed a B.A. in Elementary Education. I also completed a M.A. Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from City University. I have obtained endorsements in reading, early childhood education, and Sheltered English Immersion. Prior to becoming a Falcon, I taught first grade for thirteen years in Washington State. I was a reading specialist 3rd-5th grade, for five years. Then, I decided to leave the rainy Pacific Northwest and head to the Arizona sunshine. I was a reading specialist at Knox Elementary School from 2004 through the 2011 school year. Then, I jumped back into the classroom and taught third grade for the 2011-2012 school year. The 2012-2013 school year was my first year as a Frye Falcon! My Educational Philosophy
I believe all children are capable and desire to learn. By planning and executing, data driven, engaging lessons, students will not only advance in their skills, but be motivated learners. All students come to school with talents that need to be celebrated and respected. When students feel they belong, through kind and respectful interactions, they will succeed. I communicate, educate, and guide my students in the same manner I would want for my own children.Click to Report a Website Problem
