Birthday Policy

  • Birthdays are special days for students. Cupcakes and donuts are allowed to be brought as part of the end of the school day birthday celebrations. Please do not send food items such as pizza that will require plates, napkins, or utensils. This decision has secondary benefits such as time taken from instruction for teachers to serve, find utensils, monitor and manage food. We will leave the hosting of birthday parties for each family to celebrate at home.

On your child’s special day, students may bring a small token for their classmates, such as a pencil, eraser, gel pen, etc. to share with classmates (not required). Parents may also choose to purchase a book to donate to their classroom teacher in honor of their child’s birthday. In classrooms, students will sing and teachers will make each child feel special on their birthday. You will also be welcome to join your child in the cafeteria for lunch! Please do not send balloons, flowers, or stuffed animals, as they are difficult for children to carry after school. Those types of deliveries will be held in the front office for the student to pick up after school. If you have any questions, please call 480-812-6400.
