Welcome!
Hello Andersen Families! It is my honor and pleasure to serve in the role as Dean of Students here at Andersen Elementary School for the 2023-24 school year! Our mission is to empower all students to become resilient problem solvers through inquiry and open-minded reflection. We know that all students can reach their full potential and learn at high levels. The dedication by our staff to build and foster relationships with students is paramount to their academic success as we prepare them for their academic and career goals. Thank you for choosing Andersen Elementary School as a partner for each child’s academic success!
My Education and Professional Background
I have earned a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University along with a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University as well. My career in education began in 2001 in Yuma, Arizona teaching at the elementary level until 2012 when I was offered an administrative position to serve as assistant principal in the middle school setting. In 2017, my family and I moved to the Valley, and I have served as a Dean, grade level administrator in both Scottsdale and the Phoenix area, and now Dean of Students here in Chandler Unified. I love what I get to do and look forward to positively impacting the lives of children each day. I have a 14 year old daughter and my fiancée and I spend our free time mountain biking, going to see live music and spending time at our family cabin in Payson.
My Educational Philosophy
At the heart of education is the ability to forge relationships with students, staff and families in order to ensure a successful educational experience and pathway to college and career readiness. When students see that established goals, routines, procedures are set and we are all held to our highest accountability, only then are we able to thrive through hard work, perseverance, learning from our actions and celebrating our successes.
