    Welcome!

    Hi! My name is Ms. Gallup and I am excited to be our Media Specialist at San Marcos. Our school is a place where students love to learn and teachers love to teach. We all work hard to see students succeed beyond their own expectations. San Marcos is a close knit community that I am proud to have been a part of since 2006.

    My Education and Professional Background

    Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood: Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD (1998) Masters of Art in Education / Educational Counseling: University of Phoenix (2004). I earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood (2017; 2021). I taught both Kindergarten & First Grade for two decades and greatly enjoy the enormous amount of growth that takes place in these younger years. As a Media Specialist I am continuing my own love of learning and sharing my love of children's books with our students. I also have the pleasure of helping with the KSMB News each day. It is so much fun to see our 5th and 6th graders gain new skills and confidence in the area of video production. I have proudly spent my career teaching in Title I schools.

    My Educational Philosophy

    My educational philosophy is continually evolving and changing as my own knowledge about teaching and learning continues to grow. I believe that all children can learn and that this begins with a partnership between teacher and parents who all have high expectations. Learning is hard work and sometimes it takes some bumps along the way to reach those end goals. I believe in a structured classroom environment with clear expectations for my students, but in the end know that we WILL have a lot of FUN along the way.
