    Black History Month
Galveston Elementary ICAN students have been focused on celebrating Black History Month on each Wednesday of the month. They have celebrated African Americans throughout history that have made contributions with inventions. They celebrated Alma Thomas who at the age of 75 became the first African American artist to have a piece displayed at the White House. They celebrated Alexzander Miles who invented the automatic door system for the elevator. On the last Wednesday of the month, they celebrated by doing "Hands of Unity" -- something Dr. Martin Luther King really tried to achieve and as we still try today.
