Clear Recent Documents
(only necessary for those who open/save documents to/from their CUSD OneDrive)
If you opened and saved documents in OneDrive, your Recent Documents in both Microsoft Office 2013/2016 and Office 365 may be “pointed” to the wrong location. In the example to the left, you can see that some file locations point to an old OneDrive address that relied on the IFAS number. If you try to open files using these old locations, you will get an error … but don’t worry! The files are still there, they are just stored in a location that is based on your new username.
To remove these outdated “Recent” links:
- Open the appropriate program on your computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- If you don’t see Recent documents immediately, click the File tab and select Open.
- Right-click on files that appear to rely on links using IFAS numbers and choose Remove from list. If you would like to remove all recent documents at once, choose Clear unpinned documents (if you would like to pin any files before you clear them all, you can select Pin to list … this will prevent it from being cleared by the “Clear unpinned documents” option).
This process will also clear your recent documents from Office 365 online, and should be repeated for all Office programs (including OneNote if you use it). Once you have cleared all recent documents, you should open files using the File tab and Open command found in Office 2013/2016 software, or using Office 365 online. As you open files this way, they will appear in your Recent Documents with the correct link.
