    Welcome to Miss Spykstra's class website! I am so excited to be your student's fifth grade teacher and have a goal to help your student's improvement to make sure they are ready for their future education.

    My Education and Professional Background

    My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. I graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney, where I also played on a softball scholarship! I am currently working on my Masters from UNK in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This is my second year of teaching and I am so very excited to be a part of your student's journey!

    My Educational Philosophy

    My educational philosophy is driven by getting students to have that "lightbulb moment" as they are learning in the classroom. This is driven by self-motivation, support, and the courage to try new things. I also believe in creating a positive classroom community with diversity and inclusion where students are excited and feel welcome at school every single day.
