NFL Play 60
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you may know, our school has been selected to participate in the NFL Play 60 Challenge. We kicked off our challenge before break with an assembly with 2 former NFL Players. The goal of NFL Play 60 is to get 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Here at school, we will do activities in the classroom, at PE, and during recess to get 30 minutes. At home, children can be active for 30 minutes each day. Teachers may assign physical activity as homework and we will have suggestions in the weekly podcast for how to get active. Each student has been given a log or planner to record their minutes. Please sign the log nightly and consider getting active with your child.
To promote physical activity, here are some special events and challenges we have planned:
*Fitness Trail Fridays will begin Friday, March 30 right after school. Come on out and use the new Fitness Trail as a family.
*Classroom Challenges will take place during the week of April 2-5. A fresh fruit celebration for all classes will take place on that Thursday.
*Staff and Grade Level Challenges will take place the week of April 9-13. Winning grade levels will be awarded PE equipment.
*Team Humphrey will run in the San Tan Fun Run on April 14. For more information, go to http://www.icanaz.org/events/san-tan-sun-family-fun-run-5k-santan-chandler-arizona
*3-Day 2 mile Breast Cancer Walk will take place Mon., April 16-Wed., April 18 after school. Come walk and write encouraging notes to Mrs. Croswhite that she can use when she does her 3-day 60 mile walk.
*Day of Play will occur on Thursday, April 26 for ALL students regardless of the minutes they record. Former NFL Players will be out to run 9 stations teaching football fundamentals. Please email Mr. Jacobs if you can help out.
* Students in 4th-6th grades who recorded the most hours of activity will be put into a drawing to visit the Cardinals' stadium for another day of play! This trip will take place on May 1st.
