•  School Day
    getting to school

Dear Parents of Room 12 Second Graders:

Welcome to second grade! I am thrilled and honored to be your child’s teacher in  their journey through second grade. Below are some helpful tips to ease the first

    day jitters:

    Arrival:

Your child’s classroom is located in room 12. On the first day of school I will meet the children on sidewalk near the primary playground at 8:05 am.  Students will need to look for the white triangle on the cement to line up.  Please do not have your child wait at the classroom  door.  The first day is so exciting and can make a few second graders anxious, so the best thing is to say goodbye at the playground.

    Lunch:

It is a great idea to have a lunch account in the Cafeteria even if your child plans to  bring a lunch daily. Having a back-up lunch in case of a forgotten lunch comes in  handy.   It is recommended that you or your child pay in the morning, prior to school beginning each week or month.

    After School Pick-Up

The children are dismissed at 2:40pm. If your child will be riding the bus please make sure they have the colored tag on their backpack.   If you choose to do car pick-up, please know that it is very congested and it’s important to follow the guidelines so that all the children remain safe.  Cars are not to be left unattended in the drive-thru zone. If you must get out of your car you will need to park in the parking lot first.

Uniforms: Please remember the students need to wear uniforms.

    Specials:

We are on a six day rotation for Specials.   I will send a schedule on the weekly newsletters.  The specials are: to be announced :)

    Day 1-   Library
    Day 2-  P.E.
    Day 3-  Music
    Day 4-   Technology
    Day 5-   P.E.
    Day 6-  Music

     Thinking Ahead:

    * On PE days all students must wear tennis shoes in order to participate.  Girls should wear shorts or pants on P.E. days.   I also suggest that your child bring a water bottle (labeled with his/her name) daily.

*Your child may bring a snack from home daily.   We will have a morning

snack.  Snack is optional and will not be provided.

I hope you are ready for an exciting year!
