    Welcome!

Hi, I am one of the Special Education Resource teachers at Haley. The students all know me as Ms. D. This is my second year here. I am originally from New York but have lived in a variety of states - most recently-North Carolina. I love the desert and all that this area has to offer. I have a rising college freshman and a big handsome Lab at home.

    My Education and Professional Background

I am starting my 28th year in Special Education this year. It sure doesn't feel like it's been that long! I have taught every elementary grade in a variety of states. I've got a master's degree in Reading and a professional certificate in Autism Education. I have extensive training in many philosophies and programs. I am well versed in the "Science of Reading" as well as working with students that are dyslexic.

    My Educational Philosophy

As an educator, I know that all students are capable of anything they put their mind to. It is my daily goal to help my students recognize this in themselves.

First and foremost, I work tirelessly to create an authentic connection with each of my students. We need that to push forward. Then I figure out their strengths, weaknesses and areas of struggle. After that, we do whatever it takes to address the weaknesses while playing to the strengths. I work hard to foster growth in each of my It is always my goal to help a student create the tools they need to succeed in life.

The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Haley Elementary?

Haley is the best school I have worked in through all of my years in education. The administration are supportive of staff and students. They truly are servant leaders. The teaching staff are committed to excellence and ask for it from their students and themselves. And the students? Top notch! They have amazing parent involvement and rise to high standards.
