    Welcome!

    Welcome to our Ohana! "Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten." My name is Megan Poet and I'm thrilled to be your child's teacher this year! Teaching is my passion, and I've wanted to be a teacher ever since I taught my Beanie Babies when I was a kid! I am eager to work closely with you and your child to make this an amazing year!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I graduated from Barrett, the Honors College at ASU, where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I completed my Master's Degree in Elementary Education through NAU in 2017.  In 2022, I achieved my National Board Certification. I've been teaching at Haley since 2013, with the first five of those years being in First Grade, the rest being in Third Grade.  I'm excited to be teaching 3rd Grade again this year!  

    My Educational Philosophy

    Teaching is truly my passion and I am lucky to get to spend my days with amazing 8 and 9 year olds. As your child's teacher, it is my goal to make your child feel loved, safe, and valued. Our classroom is a positive learning environment, where curiosity is greatly encouraged, and confidence and a sense of pride are built up in everyone. I try to instill in our Ohana that it's always okay to not know something, but it's not okay to not try. Third Grade can be very challenging, but it is my mission to help your child succeed and make the journey fun along the way!
