Welcome to the Haley Tiger Family! As you step foot onto our beautiful campus, we want you to know you are a part of our family. It’s an honor that you have placed your trust in us to educate your child and we look forward to working alongside you during your child’s elementary years!
My Education and Professional Background
I hold a BAE in Elementary Education from Arizona State University with a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. During my classroom years, I had the pleasure of teaching primary grades, pre-K through 2nd grade. I treasured my time in the classroom, but quickly realized my heart was leading me towards making an even larger impact in a school through leadership opportunities. In 2012, I began my journey as an administrator and have found my way to Haley Elementary School. As the principal, I’m eager to continue to help teachers, students, and parents enjoy the foundational years of school.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that it takes a village to educate our children. With open communication, strong relationships, and a solid partnership between home and school, every child will be successful. Additionally, children need to be provided the opportunity to think critically while feeling comfortable in their learning environment.

Welcome to the 21-22 school year! I am thrilled to be a part of the Haley family this year. I am a native of Arizona, born and raised in Chandler and a proud product of Chandler Unified School District.
My Education and Professional Background
After graduating from Arizona State University with a bachelor's in Elementary Education, I taught kindergarten and 4th grade in CUSD. After a few years of teaching I became an instructional coach, which I did for four years. During that time I went back to school at Grand Canyon University and received a Master's Degree in Administration and Leadership. I am now in my fourth year as a Dean of Students in CUSD, and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work alongside Mrs. McMillian and and the entire staff at Haley!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that students learn best when they are welcomed, comfortable, safe, and accepted for who they are. Every child is unique, and I am committed to fostering a love of learning while pulling from the strengths of each and every one of our students. Families are an essential part of the learning process. When we work together to achieve one common goal – the success of the student – we are powerful beyond measure!

Welcome to Haley Physical Education! I am very excited to be here at Haley and getting to know and build relationships with all of my students and community. This will be my 16th year in education. I moved from Madison, Wisconsin 16 years ago…… Go Badgers, Bucks, and of course Green Bay Packers! (Yes I am a CheeseHead)!
My Education and Professional Background
I began my teaching career 16 years ago teaching K-8 in the Laveen Elementary school district. Most recently I have taught at Patterson Elementary and Rice Elementary in the Chandler district. Basketball is one of my passions. I coached at the high school level for 10 years and the club level for 8 years. In addition to coaching, I have trained student athletes and helped them achieve their dream of playing in college or overseas.
My Educational Philosophy
My major focus will be to make physical education class as enjoyable as possible. This goal starts by providing a safe and comfortable environment. This occurs when every student feels physically and emotionally safe. I can provide students with the means and knowledge for living a healthy, active lifestyle. Students will be encouraged to find individual ways that work for them to stay fit in a safe fashion, both physically and emotionally.

It is so exciting to be a part of the learning community at Haley Elementary School and welcome your students into this specifically designed and supportive environment. As Pre-kindergarten students step into their new educational life at school, it's an incredible joy to see them experience this new world of learning and all it has to offer their growth and development.
My Education and Professional Background
Growing up in Chicago and after the fun (really!) high school years, I graduated Northern Illinois University with Bachelor and Master degrees in Education. I began my teaching career in elementary school physical education and over the years have additionally been privileged to teach high school physical education, health and athletic coaching plus elementary school in a variety of grade levels, University ESL for international students, and adult education. Teaching and serving others in the community also lead me to Africa to teach English to doctors and nurses in Rwanda.
My Educational Philosophy
At Haley I get to join teams of amazingly creative and dedicated teachers committed to providing your children a positive and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning. We are a family! With a welcoming environment and integrated curriculum that looks toward a global society, I support setting high expectations and personal goals for student achievement. Preschool is very exciting for both students and teachers! It's a time to experience numerous opportunities for exploration and discovery. My classroom is a safe and caring place where students are free to express their uniqueness. Children are great imitators which challenges me to demonstrate the best I can be for them. Thank you for choosing Haley Elementary School where we get to share your student’s joy and love of learning in a fun and challenging environment.

Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Jenny Athanas and I have taught Kindergarten at Haley since 2014. I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing school and be able to call myself a Haley Tiger!
My Education and Professional Background
Before teaching kindergarten, I taught preschool for 3 years in Chicago. I graduated from ASU in 2012, (GO DEVILS!!!), with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I'm in love with teaching these kindergarten kiddos and am excited for the many years to come!
My Educational Philosophy
I strongly believe that learning cannot take place until a child feels welcome, safe, secure, and happy. It is so important to me that all my students feel accepted and loved, and that they have a warm environment to come to when they are here at school. This is especially important in Kindergarten, as this is the first experience many children have in the world of education. My goal is to foster a love of learning and education within my students that will last a life-time!

My Education and Professional Background
I've been fortunate to have a variety of experiences within my teaching career. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education in 1997 from Illinois State University, from there I did my student teaching in England where I gained my first experience with a National Curriculum. I then taught a K/1 multi-age program in an inner city near Chicago. Our move to Arizona in 1999 brought me to my next teaching assignment. There I spent 2 years teaching a K/1/2 multi-age program and one year teaching kindergarten. From there, I relocated and spent 4 years teaching morning kindergarten and 3 years teaching 1st grade. Following that I taught Kindergarten and then 2nd grade for 7 years. I've been at Haley since 2014. I've had several trainings along the way, most specifically with Write From the Beginning and PLCs.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all children deserve the same opportunity to learn, and that all students can be successful learners. When clear expectations are established as a classroom community, and the specific learning styles of children are determined it is much easier to create meaningful lessons that students have a personal connection to. Building on student's past experiences will also aid in their buy in and help build a natural curiosity. Involving parents in all aspects of learning is also vital. Using current research, collaborating with my colleagues and attending professional growth opportunities will help me continue to revitalize my teaching and make sure I am preparing our students for the future. By collecting data and work samples I will be able to judge the effectiveness of my teaching and modify it accordingly.

A little bit about me: My husband's name is Manny and he is also a teacher at Hamilton High School. We have two little boys named Tripp and Parker who keep us very busy!
My Education and Professional Background
I began teaching in 2004. The first 10 years of my career were spent in Kindergarten. I then made a leap to 4th grade and was lucky enough to spend 5 fabulous years in that grade level. I realized that I was ready for a new challenge and 2nd grade was calling my name…so here I am!! I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ. After graduating from High School I attended Arizona State University (GO DEVILS!) and got my bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Helping students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others, and their environment is an ongoing process throughout the year. When the voice of each student is heard, an environment evolves where students feel free to express themselves. Class meetings are one way to encourage such dialogue. I believe children have greater respect for their teachers, their peers, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and sure of what is expected of them. In setting fair and consistent rules initially and stating the importance of every activity, students are shown respect for their presence and time. In turn they learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Wood. I am ecstatic to be here at Haley again. Haley is a great family of staff, students, and parents, and I know I am lucky to be a Haley Tiger. Outside of school, my husband Kyle and I are fortunate enough to have the pleasure of raising our three children, Cole, Avory, and Landon. This year is going to be amazing!
My Education and Professional Background
I have been teaching since the year 2000! I graduated high school from Vivian Webb School's of California. I got my Bachelors of Arts and Science in Elementary Education, Arizona State University (Go Devils!). I later received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Northern Arizona University. I am Thinking Maps trained. I am our team lead and I enjoy working with Student Council, Running Club, and the Be Kind Committee.
My Educational Philosophy
At school, I aim to enjoy what I teach so students can enjoy what they learn. Teaching children that reading means more than just words on paper is a strong passion of mine. This year, I hope to create lifelong memories with my students while taking this journey through 5th grade together.

Welcome to Mrs. Kringen’s 5th Grade Class! I can’t wait to meet you and I’m looking forward to sharing in the educational journey that lies ahead of us this year! After 15 years in the Kyrene School District, I decided to make Chandler my new home in 2017. Along with my wonderful Haley students that I call family, I have two incredible daughters of my own and a supportive husband. The joy from my students’ growth and learning, as well as the love from my family, inspires my teaching every day!
My Education and Professional Background
I am a proud University of Arizona Wildcat and went on to pursue my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I started my teaching career in the Kyrene School District in 2001 where I taught 4th-6th grade. For the last 7 years in Kyrene, I was an Instructional Math Coach. I believe the life-long learning of teachers is vitally important to student achievement, and this position gave me the wonderful opportunity to attend amazing professional development and mentor teachers.
My Educational Philosophy
It is my goal to create a classroom environment where students are held to high expectations, while feeling comfortable to take risks because of the respect and support of one another. Helping children develop their academic and social potential by watching them persevere when problem-solving, and self-discovering the best way to approach problems, is critical to understanding and learning. Haley is just the place where I want to continue my growth as an educator and prepare students to be 21st century learners.

My Education and Professional Background

My Educational Philosophy
I believe the children are our future... I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will assist children in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. Teach them well and let them lead the way... Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful.

My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Master’s in Education – Cross Categorical, Special Education and Elementary Education. I graduated from Walden University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Child development.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe education is one of the most important tools a person can have in life. Every child deserves to receive the best education possible, regardless of the obstacles that stand in their way. Learning in the least restrictive environment, gaining necessary life skills and learning how to relate and communicate with people from different walks of life is imperative to the success of any student. It has always been my passion to help each child discover their individual gift and talents and to reach their full potential. All children carry special gifts inside of them. I believe that anyone working with a special needs child has the responsibility to identify those gifts since they often go unnoticed. People often focus on the deficiencies of special needs children, but I feel more attention should be focused on their gifts. As a special education teacher and advocate, my job is to recognize and celebrate the differences that make each individual special.
