    Welcome!

    Welcome to Miss Carlson’s first grade class! My name is Jean Carlson and I have been teaching at Haley Elementary since 2010. I am honored to be a part of our Haley family! I was born and raised in Arizona and am a true Native of the Valley of the Sun. My goal as a teacher is to encourage and challenge students as they develop their skills as well as to provide students with a safe and friendly classroom where they feel loved, respected and excited about learning.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2002 from Arizona State University. I also earned my Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Early Childhood Education in 2008 from ASU. I also hold several reading intervention and writing certifications. I began my teaching career in 2002 and have taught Kindergarten thru 3rd grades. I am excited to share my passion for teaching with your children.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe in providing my students with the opportunity to learn in a safe, caring, and positive environment where we encourage, support, and care for one another. I believe that all children are special and unique in each of their own ways. I also believe that all children have the ability to achieve and learn at their highest level. It is a privilege to teach at Haley Elementary where excellence is the standard.
