    Welcome!

    Welcome to Mrs. Somers' Technology class webpage! I am looking forward to getting to know each student and build positive relationships with all the families I work with. A little bit about me...I live in Chandler with my husband Adam, son Jack and daughter Emma. Jack and Emma both attend Chandler schools. Last year, we adopted an Aussie named Layla and she keeps us on our toes. In our spare time we love to attend ASU sporting events, and try to travel as much as we can.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I started teaching in 2001. I spent the first 14 years of my career in the Kyrene School District serving in different roles. While in Kyrene, I taught 1st-3rd grade, and was a Math and Literacy Instructional Coach. In 2015, I moved to CUSD and taught 4th grade here at Haley for two years before beginning my most recent role as Technology teacher.  I attended ASU for both my undergraduate (Elementary Education)and graduate degree (Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language and Literacy).

    My Educational Philosophy

    It is my passion to create a comfortable learning environment where students respect one another and aren't afraid to take risks. I believe that students need time to collaborate, share ideas and support each other to become the best 21st century learners they can be. Children all learn differently and at different rates so they need to pushed to their best ability through learning opportunities that challenge them. Through the integration of technology into each of the grade level learning standards students in my classroom will be prepared for the future.
