The CTA curriculum utilizes the phonics, spelling, and writing program, Spalding. Students are taught the rules of letter combinations, multiple letter sounds, and the difference between base words, root words, and words that stand alone. The basis of the program are 'Phonograms' Students learn these phonograms in kindergarten and are tested weekly to ensure fluency.
Consistent daily practice of spelling and phonograms is key to being successful in the area of Language Arts.
