    Welcome!

    Welcome to 2nd Grade at Shumway Leadership Academy! I'm thrilled to be apart of this school and the incredible community. I am looking forward to a year full of growth, laughter, and lots of fun!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I graduated from Winona State University with a BA in birth-grade 6 Elementary Education in 2008. I taught 1st Grade in MN for 7 years, along with finishing my Master's degree in Curriculum and Science from Western Governor's University in 2021.My fiance and I decided to take on a new and much warmer adventure and move to AZ. I'm excited for my 2nd year in 2nd grade at Shumway Leadership Academy.  I hope to learn and grow right beside these incredible leaders!

    My Educational Philosophy

    My education philosophy is very simple. Teach every student to love learning. When a student comes into my room, we build trust between one another. That trust grows into honest communication and learning about each other. Through that trust, we build on their academic and personal strengths so they have a clear vision of what they can do already. Through guidance, fun, and hard work, my goal is that every student will leave my classroom loving themselves, their school, and learning!
