    Welcome!

    Hello!
This is my first year in the Chandler District and I am excited to be a part of the Shumway family! I look forward to working with 5th and 6th grade general music classes, kindergarten STEM/Tech, offer enrichment specials through the Creator's Corner program, and bringing a variety of outreach and community programs to our campus!

    My Education and Professional Background

My teaching journey started at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. I earned a degree in education and a Master's in bilingual education.

I returned to my native west Phoenix home area and started teaching in 2012 for the Glendale Elementary School District. After 7 amazing years of teaching, learning, and having fun, I moved to Chandler where I started teaching kindergarten dual language Spanish in the Gilbert School District.

I believe in being a life long learner, so after 4 years at GIlbert I made the decision to transition from the classroom to a role where I could impact at a higher level. This brought me here to Shumway Leadership Academy!

    My Educational Philosophy

My philosophy of teaching is that all children are unique and grow at different levels. It is my goal to create a learning environment where they feel comfortable, accepted, included, and supported. Using an interactive and hands on approach to teaching allows for them to explore, ask questions, make mistakes, and bounce back from them. This also allows students to be more invested, interested, and motivated to learn.

The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Shumway Leadership Academy?

Everyone is welcoming and helpful! Shumway definitely makes your day much brighter with all the Stars that shine so bright! It offers opportunities to engage with others, feel valued for the work you do, and show cases the variety of talents at school (students AND teachers)!
