    Welcome!

Hello! My name is Amanda Waters, and I am excited to be at Rice! I am looking forward to working with and getting to know your child this year. This year is my first year of teaching, however I was a paraeducator for many years, as well as tutoring and nannying. From these experiences I have witnessed the importance of working as a team and collaborating with each other to ensure that every student receives the support and resources they need in order to perform at their highest abilities. I want everyone in my classroom to be successful, so my students will receive specialized instruction to help them meet their IEP goals.

    My Education and Professional Background

I am originally from Ohio, but I have lived in Arizona for almost 23 years. I go back east to visit family, typically in the winter for a week, and I am always ready to come back to our warm desert weather! I recently graduated from Northern Arizona University with bachelor’s degrees in both Elementary Education and Special Education. After I graduated high school, I began college and earned my associate degree in Elementary Education. Then I decided to take a year off from school. Unfortunately, life doesn’t go as planned and that one year off turned into 12 years off, so I am very excited that I made my way back to college and finally became a teacher! I’m thankful for my time working as a paraeducator because I learned a lot from my teachers, fellow paras, and, of course, the students. However, I am looking forward to this new chapter and having my own class! I can’t wait to work with your child and watch them grow!

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every student can learn when taught in a way that works for them. Each student is unique and has their own way of learning. By using the proper tools and resources, as well as remaining positive and encouraging, students will be successful and meet their goals.
