HartfordSylvia Encinas Elementary

I got my B.S degree in Early Childhood, and Early Childhood Special Education from the College of Education at University of Maryland (UMD). I graduated with cum laude honors and had the privilege to represent the College of Education as a Senior Marshall during the commencement ceremony. During my time at UMD, I served as a research assistant at the Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership department at the College of Education. My work for the "Together/Juntos" Grant has been reflected in my practices to recognize spaces and roles to transform school-home power differentials around mathematics learning and build teacher, parent, and student partnerships to strengthen the role of positioning in supporting mathematics learning in multilingual students. This year, I could not be more excited to be part of Hartford and share the best of my experience and knowledge with future leaders.
