    Welcome to Auxier Elementary!

    My name is Kevin J. Mendivil. I couldn’t be more thrilled than to be serving as the principal of Auxier Elementary. Auxier’s programs were founded on the principle that parents, students and staff shall work together as partners to provide an education that encourages all students to pursue academic excellence to the best of their abilities. Auxier is an exceptional learning environment because of our supportive and involved families.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I arrived at Auxier in early fall.  I taught special education for 13 years before I became an elementary principal for five years in the east valley.  I have also served in several roles at the district office with the Mesa, Gilbert and Tempe Union School Systems. My entire educational career has been in the east valley, which I call my home. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, and Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in School Administration and Supervision.  I am a proud ASU Sun Devil! 

    My Educational Philosophy

    First and foremost, I believe every student brings value to our school. Strong relationships with our families and students make Auxier an exceptional learning environment. I welcome feedback and time with our families and am dedicated to keeping you informed of all the good our students and staff are achieving. Auxier was founded as a Leader in Me school in 2015, which exemplifies Franklin Covey’s whole-school improvement process based on the idea that everyone can be a leader. This evidence-based approach empowers students with the leadership and life-skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.

    The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one of the key frameworks of the Leader in Me process. The 7 Habits help students learn and apply social-emotional skills. Additionally, the 7 Habits give students and staff members a common language and are essential in building a strong leadership culture.

    Our mission at Auxier is to Inspire the Leader Within and we are proud to be a Leader in Me Lighthouse School!
