Welcome!
Welcome to Room 6, where we are 'rocking' in our school shoes! This website is meant to keep you informed about your child's school experience. Kindergarten is a great year filled with lots of wonderful memories. Use this website as a tool to help you stay involved and informed about what is going on in your child's world. I look forward to a great year with you and your Husky!
My Education and Professional Background
I am excited to be a part of your child's education. I love teaching Kindergarten at Hartford Sylvia Encinas! In addition to kindergarten, I have taught preschool, first grade, and teachers continuing education online. I graduated from ASU with a Master of Education. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Arizona. I also hold an Early Childhood endorsement and an English Language Learner endorsement.
My Educational Philosophy
I Believe... 1. All students can learn and should have opportunity to learn, grow, and make progress. 2. Students learn best through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. 3. Students should be reading, writing, and counting everyday. 4. Students learn better in a supportive environment where they give and receive respect and honesty. 5. Learning and the love of learning is an on-going process that is built-upon each day. 6. Learning does not only occur at school; it needs to be supported at home. 7. All students need to be met and worked with on their individual level. 8. Praise, Encouragement, and Routines are all VERY powerful! 9. Children need to have natural consequences for their choices. 10. Children can be taught to have great social skills and should be taught how to solve their own problems in an appropriate manner.
