    Welcome!

    My name is Krista Wilkewitz and I am originally from Michigan! I love being a part of the 4th grade team. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2018, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. I have a teaching certificate for elementary education in both Michigan and Arizona, with endorsements in mathematics. I taught in Tanzania, Africa for one month in the summer of 2017. I moved to Arizona in January of 2019 where I joined the 6th grade team at KGA until the end of the school year & then joined the 4th grade team in July of 2019 and have been here ever since :).

    My Educational Philosophy

    As your child’s teacher I will constantly change and evolve and learn. Since society is constantly evolving, so must I. I believe that students should experience different perspectives. I will strive to make the environment of DPod and KGA mirror a community, with students being productive members. I believe that teachers are not only present to help students through the state standards, but also to help them through the challenges of growing up. I believe that personal stories should be valued and students who are making life connections to the lessons taught are a lot more likely to understand and remember the material.
