• Dear Parents

I am so excited to be your child's teacher! There are still so many fun things to do and learn in fifth grade, and I can't wait to get started! It is going to be an amazing year!

You are cordially invited to be a partner in your child's education! This year, we will  have RESPECT  as our theme, because I believe that, if we start with respect, the rest will follow.  My hope is that my students will  feel safe,  be comfortable taking risks and solving problems, as well as be willing to try their best!  I love this idea:  "Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they're different from you or you don't agree with them."  Our job as parents and teachers is to help our students be better each day and always encourage them to try and do their best!  Respect is contagious!

PLEASE REGISTER FOR MY WEBSITE so that you will get any necessary updates and information this year.

Stay Tuned: Ask your child what he or she is studying, and look in the homework binder every night. The binder is where you will find everything your child needs to do, information from school, and papers that are being returned.   I will also be publishing a Weekly Newsletter, which I send by email each Friday, which will help you keep up with important events in our classroom.

Ask Questions: If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me. Email is best, as I don't always get to my phone during the school day. I welcome all concerns, ideas and feedback that affect your child or our classroom.

Homework: Your child will bring home his/her binder daily.  Please check his/her agenda and sign each day.  This is also a great spot if you have a quick question.  Assignments will be listed there each day.  Weekly homework generally consists of nightly home reading, spelling homework if we are having a test that week, and make-up work or corrections as applicable to your student.

Snacks: All students may bring one nutritious, low-sugar snack (ones that are quick and easy to eat, and not messy)-  for a morning snack.  Our lunch time is a bit later than in 4th grade, so most kiddos will enjoy having a snack.   Please send a non-disposable water bottle with his/her name on it  to school every day as well.  We will be working very hard to reduce our use of plastic in Room 34:).

THANKS for your partnership and support! We are going to have a FANTASTIC, FABULOUS FIFTH grade year!

    Sincerely,

    Marie Campbell
