    Genre: Fantasy/Adventure or Science Fiction novel at a 4th grade reading level.

    “A new cereal on the shelf”

     

    COMMERCIAL DIRECTIONS: 

      

    LAST, BUT NOT LEAST: Write a one-minute commercial advertising your cereal and PRESENT it to the class.  SELL, SELL, SELL!    25 points

              Timing        10 points possible: 60 to 70 =’s 10, 45 to 60 =’s 7, 30 to 45 =’s 4 and under 30 seconds =’s 1 point

              Voice          Scale of 1 (can’t hear) to 5 (great voice)

              Dialogue      Scale of 1 (not memorized and little) to 5 (memorized and enough to really sell the cereal/book)

              Props/visuals Scale of 1 (just the box) to 5(box, props, characters)

     

    You will invent a cereal based on a book and design a cereal box that presents information about the story in a FUN and CREATIVE format. It is due May 10th.  You want to create a cereal that people would want to buy and would inspire them to read the book. The guidelines for each part of the cereal box are as follows:  

    THE FRONT: Create and write the name of the cereal.  Draw color  illustration (s).  **The name and the shape of the cereal have to relate to the book.  The front has to have at least 3 different colors (not including white). You want people to notice it and buy it!                         5 points   

     

       

    THE BACK: Design an activity that is based on the story.  It can be a crossword puzzle, a word game, a game board or any other FUN activity that might be found on the back of a cereal box (No word searches).  You must include information about the characters, setting, plot, etc. within the activity.                                                                                       10 points

     

    THE RIGHT SIDE: Under the heading, “Ingredients,” list the main characters and write a sentence about each one (3).  Also describe the setting in two sentences (2).     5 points

     

    THE LEFT SIDE: Write a one to two-paragraph summary of the book that describes the problem and how the problem was solved.  Again, make it interesting and exciting for customers to read.    8 pts 

             

    THE TOP: Write the title, author and your name.         2 pts

    Cereal box is worth 40 points in reading/writing.
