    Welcome!

    Hello! My name is Peter Schultz and I am excited to be your child's 8th-grade social studies teacher at Andersen Junior High School.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I grew up in the Chicago suburb of Vernon Hills, Illinois. There, I graduated from Vernon Hills High School in 2012. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2016 (go Panthers!) with a bachelor's degree in Education for History. At UNI, I studied various major social sciences to earn teaching endorsements in history, psychology, sociology, political science, geography, and economics. In 2015, as part of a field experience in college, I taught swimming to kids on a US military installation in Japan. The following year, I performed my student teaching at the American International School Chennai in India. So far, I have been to 36 states and 17 countries but will continue to expand my global experience. In 2021, I earned my master's degree in History from Arizona State University. This is my 7th year as a teacher and I look forward to helping your child develop the skills and characteristics needed in a dynamic world. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child's education.

    My Educational Philosophy

    My goal is to help students become successful citizens in our society by providing the opportunity for exceptional education. I believe that we have the opportunity to help today’s youth become the greatest generation the world has ever known, and it starts with exceptional child development, opportunity, and inspiring a love of learning.

    At AJHS, students in 8th-grade social studies gain awareness in an array of global and domestic affairs. Students become involved in many areas of civics, including human rights, genocide, social movements, constitutional affairs, economics, current issues, among other topics. In our class, we help students develop skills needed for civil, career, and college life.
