    Welcome!

    Hello and welcome to Mathematics. My name is Mr. Andrew McGilvray, and I am very excited to be a Jaguar. My family and I are returning to Arizona after living, working, and studying in Taiwan for the last sixteen years. I bring with me many traditions from every place that I have called home.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.  After living in Taiwan for five years I completed my secondary teacher certificate program - mathematics at Arizona State University.  I taught high school mathematics for six years in Yuma, AZ before moving back to Taiwan with my wife and son.  I had many different experiences teaching math, ESL, and other content areas in English to elementary, junior high and high school students in Taiwan. Every opportunity has taught me something about myself.  I know I will learn more here in Chandler as I share what I have already learned.

    My Educational Philosophy

    As I guide students to become lifelong learners, one of my goals is to ensure they understand that the acquisition of knowledge and the ability to make it their own cannot be accomplished alone.
