    What is NJHS?

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding junior high school students. More than just an honor roll; NJHS serves to honor students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship.

To be academically eligible, candidates must be members of the 8th grade class or the rising 7th graders that went to AJHS as 6th graders. These candidates shall have a minimum cumulative scholastic average of 3.75. Their eligibility for membership shall then be evaluated according to their service, leadership, citizenship, and character.

How do I become a member?

Letters of invitation are sent to rising 7th graders or rising 8th graders who meet the scholarship criteria  in the late spring and/or early fall. Students may then complete a brief application, which includes a few questions along with a written five-paragraph essay. Completed applications must then be submitted to the NJHS Adviser by the posted deadline.
