    Welcome to fifth grade! I am excited to be your child’s teacher and can’t wait to help facilitate their growth and learning this year.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I have a bachelor of arts degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations, and after career in PR and marketing, I spent 14 years at home with my three children. When I could no longer volunteer at CTA  during Covid, I started working as a substitute teacher. I fell in love with the classroom and immediately began working on my teaching certificate through the post-baccalaureate program at Rio Salado College. I spent the last two school years working as a district based substitute with CTA Independence as my home school. This is my first year teaching fifth grade and I could not be more excited.

    My Educational Philosophy

    As an educator I believe that every child has the ability to succeed. While that may look different for different students, I believe a key part of my job is to help students figure out what success in the classroom looks like for them. I have high expectations and strive to create a positive atmosphere where students can discover their potential.

    After working as a substitute teacher throughout the district, I knew that CTA Independence was where I wanted to call home. My own children have attended Independence for the past 12 years so I was already familiar with many of the teachers, the curriculum, and the culture. I am a big proponent of Spalding, and I love the traditional model of learning that is at the center of CTA Independence.
