    Welcome!

    Hello and welcome to my site! I am so excited for another year at CTA Independence. When I am not playing my ukulele, bass, or singing, I enjoy the amazing hiking Arizona has to offer. I am looking forward to another great school year!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I received my bachelor's degree in music education from Miami University. In addition to my studies, I had a blast performing in orchestra and singing in an a cappella group! Since moving to Arizona, I have attended music education workshops through AZ Orff and AKTS. I attend these workshops to gather amazing ideas from innovating music educators to bring back to the classroom! In addition to workshops, I have spent my summers at ASU and I am now both Orff and Kodaly level one certified. I love using these two general music philosophies to guide my teaching! Extending my music knowledge is something I always want to continue to work on, so that I can be the best and most current teacher I can be!

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe music, especially at the elementary age, is an essential part of a student's well-rounded education. Music teaches us so much! It can connect children to history, math, and literature in such a meaningful way. It allows students to be creative, use their imagination, work as a team, and leads to self-confidence. As a general music teacher, I hope to instill an appreciation for music in my students and empower them to be an active member in creating it. Students will learn to play music but also understand the foundations behind it. I hope my students leave me with a solid base for future music making!
