Welcome to ACP High School!
My Education and Professional Background
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry through Northern Arizona University, and then went on to complete my Master of Education degree through the University of Arizona. I have taught in multiple school districts throughout Arizona, at both the middle school and high school level, but I have spent the vast majority of my career within Chandler Unified.
My Educational Philosophy
Science is life. Your knowledge of science will facilitate and benefit the life you lead. Learn it well. The purpose of science is to understand natural phenomena and the world around us through investigation and inquiry. While the road to success may not always be smooth, I strive to prepare students to rise to the occasion and fully believe that everyone can build a solid science foundation with the proper mindset. With a solid work ethic, perseverance, ambition, and a positive attitude, success is possible.

Vinck...
My Education and Professional Background
I grew up in Southern Wisconsin in a small town called Monroe, where my high school mascot was "The Cheesemakers." I attended the College of Saint Benedict/St. Johns University in Minnesota, where I was a proud member of the swimming and diving team for 4 years and earned my bachelors degree in Psychology. After completing a year of Americorps in the Colorado Rockies, I returned back to Minnesota. I earned my Masters degree from the University of Minnesota in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in School Counseling. For the past 16 years I have been working for Saint Paul Public schools, in both middle and high school as a school counselor. This is my first year in Chandler schools and in Arizona. I have traded in my snow boots for sunglasses and am really looking forward to living in the sunshine! My husband and four kids arrived in July and are so excited to explore this beautiful area of the country.
My Educational Philosophy
Recognizing that individual growth and learning take place in all aspects of a student's life, I am available to students to support both their academic and social/emotional development. Guiding students to make satisfying and healthy decisions while getting to know them is my passion. I can't wait to get to know the ACP students this year.

Osborne...
Welcome to Mr. Osborne’s class. I am thrilled to be joining you at ACP. I will be teaching English and History to our Freshmen this year. I received my BA in History from Arizona State University and my MA in Teaching from Grand Canyon University. I am originally from Massachusetts, but I am now a proud resident of Arizona.
My Education and Professional Background
Education and Professional Background (part 1) I believe that learning is an interactive process that can happen both inside and outside of the classroom. Students learn best when they are encouraged to make learning personal by identifying connections between the content and their lives. This also means that students should be encouraged to pursue a wide variety of texts that cover diverse topics and interests. Education and Professional Background (part 2) For effective learning to take place, students must be connected to the classroom in which they feel safe, a classroom that encourages risk taking without the fear of having the “wrong” or unpopular answer. Lessons should include problem solving strategies which students will use for the rest of their lives.
My Educational Philosophy
Writing teaching philosophy I believe students learn best when: • They write frequently and for an extended period of time. • They read substantively, especially the type of writing they are learning. • They practice strategies for prewriting and organization. • They are given specific strategies for revising essays, poems, etc. as well as practicing the revision process on their own work and on their peers’ work. • When they examine their work through the eyes of a writer.

Welcome to World History and Geography! Please feel free to explore.
My Education and Professional Background
Education and Professional Background (part 1) I am a proud CUSD alum. I attended Santan Junior High and Basha High School. In college I attended Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma where I played football and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies Education. After graduating, I spent a year in Oklahoma teaching U.S. History before my wife and I packed up and moved to Europe for a year to live and study in Vienna, Austria. I recently moved back where I spent a year teaching a Legacy Traditional School in Chandler. This will be my first year at ACP and I am excited to see what the future holds for us!
My Educational Philosophy
I am passionate about World History not only because I studied it, but I lived it. Learning about the Colosseum, Palace of Versailles, the Berlin Wall and countless other European treasures is one thing... experiencing them in person is an entirely different story! I am excited to bring the same energy and excitement that I experienced into my classroom and hopefully inspire more world travelers.

¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to Señor Shannon's Spanish 1 Class
My Education and Professional Background
I am originally from Syracuse, New York. I received a BA from Niagara University in Elementary Education and Spanish. Upon completing my undergraduate education I took a Spanish teaching position in the Penn Yan Central School District. While teaching in Penn Yan, I taught Spanish 1, 2 and 3. I also coached JV and 8th grade girls lacrosse, and was a class advisory. After spending 4 year teaching in Penn Yan, I moved to Arizona to teach Spanish 1 at Fremont and Smith Junior High Schools. In 2010 I moved to Combs Middle School to teach Exploratory Spanish, Introduction to Spanish and Spanish 1. I spent 6 years at Combs Middle school, where I had several leadership roles and coached Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball. I have spent the last 5 years at Perry High School where I have taught Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. During that time I was able to coach JV Girls' Basket ball and Volleyball for boys and girls at the Freshman level. Now, I am excited to get started here at ACP!
My Educational Philosophy
Winston Churchill once said, Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue is what counts. This is the approach that I take to education. No matter what you do as a student, professional or person you have to have the courage to give it a try. You may not get it the first time around and that is absolutely okay. Not everything that we do, we will understand and be successful the first time that we try it. Many thing take time and practice for us to be successful, but be sure you are willing to continue to keep trying. When you do not find success you have an opportunity to learn what you need to do to become successful. Focus and work hard on the things that you need to do and you will find success.

Treadway...
Welcome to CTE! This year we will focus on treating the classroom and lab as a learning workplace which will encourage students to develop supportive relationships, good organizational and communication skills, and higher-level thinking. As a class we will work toward fostering cooperation, encouraging positive group relationships, and developing students’ self-esteem while improving academic achievements.
My Education and Professional Background
I have Bachelors in Nutrition with a focus in Cultural Studies from Arizona State University (GO Devils!). After working in Nutrition for a few years I decided to expand upon my interest in cooking by receiving a Culinary Certificate. I have spent that last 5 years teaching baking to 4th - 12th graders and am so excited to continue teaching Culinary and start teaching Ed Professions!
My Educational Philosophy
It is my job as a CTE educator to transform students into young professionals. Creating a sense of community within the classroom can help students become active and successful participants. It is critical to teach students respect, responsibility, personal accountability and how to work with others in partner, small group and large group scenarios. Each young professional is responsible for his or her own learning AND helping others learn, with the strengths of each person utilized in a way that ensures success for both individuals and the group.

Ruiz...
Congratulations on beginning and/or continuing your Spanish studies at ACP High School. I am ecstatic that we will be working together this semester. In order to reach our common goal of building a strong Spanish foundation, you will need to work and practice, practice, and practice. My classroom is a judgment-free zone and will serve as our safe place to share stories in Spanish as well as a place to further develop our Spanish skills so that you are ready to move forward with Spanish.
My Education and Professional Background
While at ASU, I received a B.A. in Spanish Lit. At GCU I completed an M.Ed. in Secondary Education. Throughout my college career, I spent time studying in Mérida, Mexico, visiting many Mayan sites. Climbing the Mayan pyramids proved good practice for my next hiking endeavor, trekking for 4-days to complete the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu — an adventure I undertook while spending a semester studying at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After exploring much of Latin America, I have spent time volunteering in S. Korea as an English teacher. My breaks from teaching were spent at a Buddhist temple and getting to know the Korean culture. My love for travel has taken me to 22 different countries and countless adventures. I spent 7 summers leading student groups abroad on volunteer trips across the world. I have also worked for National Geographic as a photography instructor, taking a group of students to Costa Rica where they learned Spanish. Lmk if you have any questions.
My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher, I challenge students to understand their own positionality so that they approach their future learning with a modicum of objectivity, respect, and global consciousness. Through my language courses, I help students develop a deeper understanding of people’s histories and cultures. I foster a learning environment where students learn essential language-acquisition methods, while also getting them to examine, make sense of, and draw from an array of experiences as they progress. My job is to hone my students’ critical thinking and communicational skills, as well as to reinforce their confidence in using the target language. I utilize a broad range of engaging media to keep students interested, yet as a foreign language teacher, I highlight the importance of oral and written communication. I use active learning as a foundation in order to mix lecture with discussion, mentor group projects, and incorporate assignments that have profound impacts on marginalized students.

Welcome to ACP! I am so pleased to be able to work with your student to make sure that they are on track and ready for graduation! I know that may seem a far away goal, but it will come sooner than you expect. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education in 1996 and began teaching in the Tempe Elementary School District. In 2000, I went back to ASU and earned a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading. After teaching both special education classes and ELA in Tempe for ten years, I came to the Chandler Unified School District and worked at Andersen Junior High School for twelve years as an 8th grade ELA teacher. In 2017, I moved to Casteel High School and taught 8th grade ELA. During that time, I earned my second Master's degree in School Counseling. This is my first year as a school counselor and my first year at ACP! I am very excited and looking forward to a great year!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that ALL students can learn! It is important to teach students to think for themselves and to grow as learners to become the best they can be. Helping students build confidence and self esteem is as important as teaching curriculum so that they will continue to grow and be lifelong learners.

Welcome to Spanish and Life Connections! Feel free to explore each section to see more specifically what is offered.
My Education and Professional Background
I attended Northern Arizona University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Spanish and a minor in History. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona and also hold an SEI endorsement.I have worked and interacted with kids for as long as I have had a job. During college, I was a nanny and worked at an after-school program at a local public school. I spent about 5 years with the Flagstaff school district until I moved to Phoenix in July of 2012. I have been teaching at Arizona College Prep since January of 2013 and have been teaching both Spanish and the middle school Life Connections class.
My Educational Philosophy
I am passionate and excited about the subjects I teach as well as the students that I teach. I want to share my knowledge so that students become self sufficient and leave with an awareness of their unique abilities and opportunities. I am there to guide and help my students in anyway possible however they must take an active role in their learning. I want my students to be challenged and to see that when they study a different language in the classroom it can be applied in the real world situations. I have high expectations for my students and want to create a learning environment that reflects those expectations. I ask that students and parents partner with me in taking responsibility for the education that will be received here at ACP. To sum up, "It's okay to not know but it's not okay to not try."

Berger...
Welcome to Spanish with Señora Berger! I’m very excited to be your teacher and I can’t wait for us to have an exciting year. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but it will also be very rewarding. Thanks for stopping by!
My Education and Professional Background
I received my degree in Spanish and K-12 Education from Iowa State University. While I was doing my undergraduate studies, I did an exchange program to Cuernavaca, Mexico where I lived with a host family and attended a Mexican University. Sick of the cold winters, I studied at Arizona State University where I received my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in ESL. I then received my Masters of Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in administration with a principal certificate. Lastly, I have a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I am certified in Spanish and English. I have an ESL (English as a Second Language), and Library-Media Specialist endorsement.
My Educational Philosophy
It is my goal to foster an intrinsic desire for learning in students. I feel that students need to see how the class will relate to them now and in the future in order to be vested in the content. I also think that learning a language, for some students, is a new experience with a different mindset and approach to studying from any other class. This can be an intimidating and daunting task to figure out how to study for a class that they may not have ever experienced. To ease the anxiety of the of the unknown, I encourage a warm, safe environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and experimenting with the language. If they are at ease while learning, I truly feel that they will be more apt to attempt communication in the target language—which is my ultimate goal for the students. I love Spanish and it is my dream that I can pass this passion and enjoyment of the language onto all of my students.

I am very excited to be teaching Honors Geometry and College Algebra this year at Arizona College Prep! I am looking forward to having another successful year!!!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from the University of New Mexico where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Secondary Education certification. I also have a Master's degree in Natural Science (which is a STEM based degree) from the college of engineering at Arizona State University. I started teaching at ACP-Erie in 2014. I have taught in the Chandler Unified School District since 2006, eight of those years at Willis Jr. High School. Prior to that I taught at Scottsdale Educational Enrichment High School for 3 years, Thomas J. Pappas High School for 4 years, and in the Gallup McKinley County School District (New Mexico) for 3 years.
My Educational Philosophy
It is my belief that a classroom should be student centered and student driven. It is not my job to give students methods to solve problems, but to guide them to find solutions on their own. I believe that students learn best by being active participants who collaborate and share ideas in order to solve problems. I have high expectations for every student and I make them accountable for their learning. I try to make mathematics relevant by explaining where in the real world they might encounter the various problems that they study.

My Education and Professional Background
• Received a BA in Biology from Point Loma Nazarene University • Received an MA in Secondary Curriculum from Northern Arizona University • Taught English in Chandler Public Schools since 1993
My Educational Philosophy
Speech and Debate is a student-centered classroom and team. Experienced veteran students do most of the teaching. Because there are 16 different events at a typical tournament, there are often numerous lessons occurring in the classroom simultaneously. There is a strong emphasis on character building and leadership development on the team. We are very focused on the culture and are guided by our two core values: 1) See the big picture; the idea that there is so much more that we can receive.

Welcome to Honors English. You will be engaged in a high level of language arts study aiming at preparing you for either high school. In addition to further enhancing your grammar skills and vocabulary, the focus of the course is to refine reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills through the exploration of different texts. You will read, reflect on, and analyze a variety of pieces, both fiction and nonfiction.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English for Arizona State University. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona and also hold an SEI endorsement.Prior to college I was a counselor at a music camp. I worked in the Dysart District for the first five years of my teaching career. When we moved to the East Valley, I worked in Mesa Public Schools before settling in Maricopa. When we moved to Chandler, I spent one year working as a Response to Intervention Specialist before beginning work at ACP. I have taught English Language Arts for grades 7-12 at all skill levels.
My Educational Philosophy
I naturally helped other students during elementary school and by eighth grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Through volunteering and counseling at music camp, I discovered that I had a passion for teenagers. I am an understanding soul who has the ability to see a student's potential and help guide them over, under, around, and through the obstacles they encounter during the educational race. I believe that through reading and writing students come to understand themselves, the world around them, and their place in that world. I belive students learn they have the power to change the world through education. In our classroom, I help students create a community of learners since the teen years are a huge part of their social development. Students are accountable for their learning in my classroom and I believe they reap what they sow. I have high expectations for students and I do not believe in the word "can't".

LeFevre...
Welcome to Arizona College Prep and to Physical Education! I believe that Physical Education is an integral part of the total education process. My program relates to lifetime activities, which can be carried over into their adult life and assist the individual in further development: physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. I believe this program will challenge each student to reach his/her highest potential and allow opportunities for success and enjoyment.
My Education and Professional Background
I attended Northern Arizona University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in History. I also received my Master's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Health and Wellness from Northern Arizona University. I started my teaching career in the fall of 1999: 2 years at Gilbert High School, 7 years at Hamilton High School and am one of the original teachers who started Arizona College Prep (Hamilton Prep) in 2007. I have taught Physical Education, aerobics, weight training and health. I also have coached both boys and girls volleyball at many different levels, junior high and high school. I am excited about the opportunity to develop a yoga fitness class here at ACP.
My Educational Philosophy
I am very passionate about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and want to instill these behaviors into my students. With the growing concern of obesity in the United States I feel I need to do my part to arm students with the knowledge to make smart decisions about nutrition and exercise. Yes, we will do team sports throughout the year, but they will also be learning health concepts and nutrition. I also like to incorporate a variety of fitness activities for students who might not be team sport orientated. I hope by doing different activities students will be able to find a form of physical activity that they enjoy and pursue into their adulthood. When this occurs I am a happy coach! A student does not have to be a star athlete to be successful in my class, be present, dressed out and participate in the activities. Physical activity should be fun and challenging at the same time!

Patterson...
Welcome to AP Literature and Composition. Through the study of literature, students will carefully read and critically analyze fiction, drama, and poetry to develop an appreciation for the ways literature reflects and comments on a range of experiences, institutions, and social structures. Students will examine the choices literary writers make and the techniques they utilize to achieve purposes and generate meanings.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my Master's in Educational Leadership with a certification in Administration in 2008 from NAU. I have also completed many hours toward a Master's degree in Reading through Illinois State University. My support for the ASU Sun Devils dates back to 1995 when I received my teaching degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I have enjoyed many years of teaching experience at both the junior high and high school level in Arizona and in Illinois. In 2002 I joined CUSD at Andersen Junior High School and in 2015 I joined the ACP Erie family where I truly love teaching AP Literature and Composition to seniors and enjoy helping them prepare for their future college experiences. Additionally, teaching our school’s online newspaper course and yearbook is extremely rewarding and a perfect opportunity to share the many successes of our students through these different mediums.
My Educational Philosophy
Being a teacher requires a special love for children. The passion I have for teaching has stayed strong since I first entered the field of education in 1995. Children of all ages are a precious gift, and we must all work together to guarantee they are given every opportunity for success. Therefore, it is essential to have a strong partnership with the parents of the students in my classroom to ensure this success. There should be no limits to the dreams our children have for their future. There is a world of opportunity that awaits them - a global and international world where new careers are being developed each and every day. That is why we must do our best to prepare our children for these endless opportunities and never stifle their dreams. I look forward to working with the parents of the students I teach to help them discover just how far their dreams may go.

Salomone...
My name is Jason Salomone and I direct the orchestras at both campuses of Arizona College Prep. I am a New York native and I moved to Arizona in 2005. I currently live a few miles from downtown Gilbert with my wife, our son, and our dog, Polly. My primary instrument is the bass. I completely respect Baroque Era and Classical Era music, I completely adore Romantic Era music, and I am ever fascinated by 20th Century Era music. I listen to music so much that I drive everyone else around me crazy.
My Education and Professional Background
I studied the double bass at Mannes College of Music in Manhattan under John Dewitt, and I graduated with a B.M. in music education from The Crane School of Music. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master's in Educational Leadership. I began teaching orchestra in Syracuse, NY within the Liverpool School District. I moved to Arizona in 2005 and taught for the Deer Valley School District for several years. Since 2009, I have been teaching orchestra for the Chandler Unified School District. I have been teaching for A.C.P. since 2010.
My Educational Philosophy
Learning music means learning how to set goals, take responsibility for ourselves, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a positive way with a variety of different people. Teamwork is a very important part of what I teach in an orchestra class. As students excel on their instruments they gain skills and techniques, but they also learn that to achieve in life takes work and dedication. At the core of it all, they learn that work can be fun, and that achieving goals is rewarding.

Hello there! I am proud to be a 4th generation native of Arizona. My grandfather and my father instilled a love of history and culture that is undeniable. It is this passion for history and learning that led me to leave the business world after 15+ years to pursue a career in education. My hope is that my passion for history pours out and becomes tangible for my students.
My Education and Professional Background
I was once a student of the CUSD and am excited to now give back as a teacher. I received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University (Go Devils!) and my graduate degree from Grand Canyon University (Go Lopes!).
My Educational Philosophy
It is my responsibility to create a consistent, safe classroom environment where students can speak freely, engage in open dialogue, and share personal feelings without judgment. The classroom is where I mold the future leaders, workers, and volunteers of the community at large. I prepare students for these roles through modeling respect and compassion for others in the classroom and with other faculty, staff, and administration on and off campus. I counsel students to be accountable for their academic journey by participating in lessons and activities that promote self-discovery and self-expression. In my classroom, I embrace each student’s distinct contribution to the learning process, and I invite them to enhance the academic discussion through their unique perspective. I believe that learning should challenge the students to think higher and wider- to think beyond their immediate influences- but, I also believe that learning should be fun and creative.

Welcome!
My Education and Professional Background
For high school, I went to the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts where I majored in Theater before spending a year as an exchange student to Hamburg Germany learning to speak German. I majored in German and Pre-med at LSU in Baton Rouge and then went on to finish a Master's of Science in Evolutionary Biology at Southeastern Louisiana University, winning a national graduate student award from the American Society for Microbiology for my research into the evolution of the Intermediate Filament Gene Family. I finished 3+ years of a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Utah completing everything except my dissertation (so A.B.D.) While working on my Ph.D., I was supported by a grant from the Human Genome Project and published several scientific papers in national journals. I have been teaching Bio 181 (for Majors) at CGCC since 2010 and Microbiology 205 at MCC and have taught for CUSD for 6 years now.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every student is capable of being inspired by the world around them. Studying the observable world is what science is all about so that means every student can be successful in science if they learn to observe the world around them and apply critical thinking skills.

I am excited to begin the new school year and am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their parents. We are going to have fun, broaden our knowledge, and create an atmosphere that invites participation and civil discourse.
My Education and Professional Background
I have a Master’s in Secondary Education, and two BA Degrees, one in History and one in Anthropology. I am highly qualified to teach all History and Social Studies classes as well as all Language Arts. I am an ASU Alumnus and a huge Sun Devil fan! I have attended numerous Gilder Lehrman and NEH teacher seminars and workshops to advance and enrich my content knowledge and my teaching skills and also was awarded the Barringer Fellowship from the University of Virginia. I have been a Table Leader for AP College Board Seminar for the last five years. Additionally, I have an extensive background in retail and restaurant management and accounting which gives me a “real-world” perspective in Economics.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that kindness and respect are the key elements to any successful collaboration, therefore, the relationship that exists between students and their teacher must be based upon mutual respect and extreme kindness. I not only promise to respect my students, but to respect their time. Homework is appropriate for learning or extending skills and will be assigned as such. I believe that every one of my classrooms is its own family and I strive to create a warm, safe, and engaging atmosphere that is conducive to all learning styles. I love teaching and I love my students, so it is important to me that my students enjoy my class and that they are deeply engaged in learning and achieving at the highest possible level. I will give my students 100% every day and I expect the same from all of them in return, so the best way to succeed in my class is to be an active participant in one’s own education.

Welcome, I am excited for this upcoming year at ACP! You will find success by following a few important strategies. Come to class with a positive attitude and give maximum effort. Be ready and eager to participate and share in class or small group discussions. Ask for help when you need it, and be willing to help others. Stick to these guidelines, and we will have a great year learning and growing together!
My Education and Professional Background
I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education, along with a major in mathematics, from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri in 2016. I worked as a teacher for several elementary level educational camps and after school programs, but this is my first full time teaching job. I also played golf for 4 years while in college, which has prepared me to coach the varsity golf team here at ACP.
My Educational Philosophy
As a first time teacher, I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge on the latest educational theories and practices. I have studied and practiced countless teaching strategies and methods that I believe will be beneficial in creating a positive learning environment. Through a great liberal arts education a Rockhurst University, a Jesuit institution, I have acquired a strong belief in social justice for all students. In terms of mathematical knowledge, I feel very confident in my ability to adapt my instruction for struggling students and challenge more advanced students. I believe that by connecting with students on a personal level I can help them gain confidence in themselves in and out of the classroom.

Welcome to all my future innovators!! I am very excited to start a fresh new year with new hopes, aspirations, dreams and challenges with you all. Irrespective of which of my class you are in, I look forward to embark on this roller coaster of a year with you. So let’s jump right in. :)
My Education and Professional Background
I am an Entomologist and a Developmental Geneticist with two master’s degrees. My research work is on working with honey bees, ants, sustainability topics, and innovation. I have a program called DRIPBL (Dream, Research, Innovate, Project Based Learning) and using that platform, I apply for grants, patents and finally have students open their own LLC's.
My Educational Philosophy
I strongly believe in hands on learning and creativity. The more the students are involved in the process of learning, the more they remember and hence learn from their environment better. Also, it’s not enough to learn the tools and trades of today but to be able to critically analyze and come up with innovative ideas to solve a problem for the future. So thinking outside the box and making students uncomfortable is a good place to be in the learning process.

Wright...
I have an open-door policy for students/parents and welcome an opportunity to work together to make this a great year.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned a BA in History from the Univ. of Missouri-Columbia (Go Tigers!) and have a masters from UOP. I've been fortunate to teach a variety of Advanced Placement classes including Human Geography, World and US History, plus participating in the We the People government program.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy is simply this; An engaged student of history is one who will learn to question not merely the dates and places, but the why, how, and "how does this impact me" perspective. I'm an advocate of differentiated instruction (which is a fancy way of saying I like to mix it up when I'm teaching). Each day should bring something a little different so that all the students will stay connected to what we are learning. Reading, discussion and active participation are critical! Students of the 21st century must have the flexibility and skills necessary to thrive in a plugged-in or pencil and paper world. Finally, I think students deserve to understand expectations placed on them so they have the opportunity to achieve and feel safe in the classroom environment.

Although a textbook has the foundation of the material and subject matter, I feel it is my responsibility to take that information and interject relevancy to the student’s life. Regardless of the student’s collegiate or career path, the skills learned in Business Marketing are lifelong skills that will enable students to sell themselves and operate in an appropriate business manner in all areas of their lives.

Treadway...
Welcome! I have been a teacher and head basketball coach at Arizona College Prep since 2018. I am very proud to be a part of a National Blue Ribbon School and top school in the state here at ACP. I look forward to another great school year working with the students and parents here at ACP!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University (GO DEVILS) where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education; and a Masters in Physical Education.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every child is capable of learning, and it’s my job to provide them with a safe, supportive environment in which to do so. Encouraging students to persevere and providing them with the tools and assistance to push themselves past what they believe they’re capable of is important to me. I will help all students grow--academically, personally, and physically--throughout the year, and will instill in them the importance of becoming lifelong learners and living a healthy lifestyle.

About
Hoang...
I was born and raise in Vietnam, immigrated to the States in 1991, served in the US Army before and while in college. In my spare time I love reading and enjoy traveling with my family. All my three children were and are Knights.
My Education and Professional Background
After earning a BA in Economics and Minor in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 1998, I started working in the Software Industry in San Jose, CA. In 2001 I got married and moved to Arizona to join my husband. I went back to school to get the Secondary Education teaching certificate and started teaching in 2004. I taught Math and Computer Science at Mesquite HS for three years, Math at Maricopa HS for 5 years. In 2014 I started teaching for Chandler Unified School District, at Hamilton and Chandler HS. Now I am teaching at Arizona College Prep - Erie.
My Educational Philosophy
I have grown a lot in my education career. Struggling students are the ones who really need me to teach them; excelling ones only need me to guide them. The education system should form a whole person, not just Math, English, Science, or Social Study. We are empowering the students by challenging them to access learning material at their level and skill to ensure their success and growth. The students and I have a common goal, always reach for the stars! And I believe that every student should learn about computer science because we are living in the era of 4.0 Industrial Revolutionary.

About
Johnson...
I am eager to begin the new school year with my fellow ACP Knights! This school is a very special, amazing community of avid learners, and as long as we are together (even digitally) life is grand!
My Education and Professional Background
I have a BA in English Education from the University of Arizona; a Master of Education degree in "Curriculum and Instruction" from Northern Arizona University; and I reached ABD status ("all but dissertation") for my PhD in early American literature from Arizona State University. Since the 2019-2020 year, I have been teaching Honors English at ACP and am finding more fulfillment and joy in my work than ever before! In teaching college writing courses over the past several years, I realized that my heart never really left the high school scene. So I am thrilled to be back, as it were!
My Educational Philosophy
I seek to build a strong sense of community in my classes through humor and the discussion of literature and ideas. First, our business together is sharing and diving into each other's literary interpretations. Thus, my goal is to help you identify more closely with what you read and articulate your findings more effectively, particularly as academic writers. My hope is that you will make meaningful, and sometimes unexpected, connections to your world every time you enter my class. Second, I am here to mobilize and equip you for critical reading that translates into rhetorical awareness in your essay writing.
