    Welcome!

    Welcome to Santan Elementary! My name is Haley Jensen. I'm originally from Flagstaff, AZ, but grew up in Virginia. I lived overseas for a bit too in Brussels, Belgium! This is my first year at Santan, but before this, I taught in Vail, AZ and Virginia. This year I will be teaching the 2-3 grade self contained students, and am beyond excited!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in math and special education at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. I'm currently working towards my Masters in Mild and Moderate Disabilities through Northern Arizona University. I taught 3rd grade in Virginia for 2 years, and had the amazing opportunity of having the ELL and SPED clusters both years. I have long term subbed in multiple Self-contained SPED rooms across ages K-5 in Virginia as well. Most recently, I taught the 3rd grade inclusion classroom in Vail.

    My Educational Philosophy

    My teaching philosophy is to teach the whole child and meet them where they are at. I believe in pushing each student to achieve the highly proficient level of standards that match their personal abilities. I believe students need strong support and modeling of behaviors and routines, and I also hold each student accountable to our community expectations. I team with each student to create personal goals and problem solve together on an individual case basis. I also strive to have a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom.
