    Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to 6th grade, Room 14. I am so excited to begin this school year - I hope you are too.

I am Ms. Brooks and I am an Arizona native. I moved to Colorado for 2 years and Texas for 14 before returning in 2016. I have 4 children, Hannah, Bennett, Ian and Eleanor. When I am not in the classroom I like to workout, listen to music, explore new things and spend time with my kids.

    My Education and Professional Background

I have an undergraduate degree in Human Biology and Exercise Science from Grand Canyon University and a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Regis University. I taught High School Science for 3 years in Texas. The last 2 years, I have been a CUSD site substitute and in classrooms at all grade levels. I learned that I thoroughly enjoy 6th grade students. This will be my 1st year at Santan Elementary. I am blessed to be a part of the Santan community and I am looking forward to a year of challenge, growth and learning.

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe in the importance of meeting my students where they are at. I believe that all students learn differently and therefore, should be given the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them. I also believe that with those opportunities comes an expectation of personal responsibility from our learners. Facilitating instruction under our National and State Standards, I will encourage, enrich and challenge each of my students. My students can expect to learn in a safe, compassionate, fair and challenging daily environment. They can also expect to be held to, and supported in, high daily standards: not only in the area of academics, but also in the areas of personal accountability and growth mindset. I look forward to working with my students as they work on creating, monitoring, and succeeding in their personal learning and behavioral goals throughout their academic year.
