    Welcome!

    Hi! Welcome to 6th Grade – room 21! I am excited to be your child’s 6th Grade teacher here at Sanborn. I began working with CUSD in January of 2015, after being away from teaching for a few short years. During those years I was working at a Fortune 500 company, but my mind kept returning to teaching. I was lucky enough to obtain a position in CUSD, and now I am much happier doing what I love – teaching.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I received my BA in General and Special Education from St. Joseph’s University in Brooklyn, N.Y., and began teaching with the NYC Dept. of Education in 2001. Between New York City, Phoenix, AZ, and Chandler, AZ, I have taught every grade from 3 through 6, including Special Education, General Education and Alternative Education.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe that the best way to learn isn’t just through reading about something, it also includes discussion and the exchange of information and experiences. I feel that everyone, no matter their background or age, have experiences and knowledge that they can use to help and educate someone else, and I encourage my students to bring these things into the classroom. This helps to build a community of learners who begin to think outside of the box.
