• Week 9 Wrap Up!

Posted by Megan Larsen on 9/16/2022 7:00:00 AM

What a fun week! We explored the process of atomic emission with changing flame colors and spectral glasses. Students should also be working independently to memorize the 19 required polyatomic ions. Knowing these automatically will be important in our next unit. Final ions quiz will be at the end of next week.

The Unit Deadline is quickly approaching! All late assignments must be submitted by Tuesday, September 20, 11:59 pm in order to receive credit. The Unit test will be given in class on Wednesday, September 21. Students will have two class periods next week to review the material we have covered in class over the last four weeks.

The Unit 2 Test will be the last grade recorded for quarter 1. Subsequent work will be scored as part of quarter 2.

This week we explored physical and chemical changes using hands-on lab activities, and learned how to set up a lab report and respond to questions using claim, evidence, and reasoning. The students took their first quiz on element symbols.

We will be using calculators every day this next week as the students explore scientific measurement using lab equipment and the metric system. The second element quiz is Tuesday!
