• Week 9 Wrap Up

The quarter is rapidly coming to a close!

Over the last few weeks we have built models, studied properties affected by intermolecular forces, and tested solubility in double replacement reactions. We have supplemented what we discuss in class with videos in AP Classroom, digital labs in PIVOT, and a variety of notes and worksheets.

The second exam will be discussed in class today, and students will have the opportunity to earn 1/2 credit back by completing test corrections. They will need to come into the classroom to complete these corrections as per the College Board policy for AP questions, the tests cannot leave my classroom. Students will have a week to complete this assignment for points.

Quarter grades will close at the conclusion of our study of gasses.

We jumped right in to AP chemistry with some quizzes on element symbols and naming compounds. Naming is a foundational skill and will be crucial to long-term success in this class! We got our hands dirty in lab completing the Copper Cycle and working with some intense acids. I look forward to lots of lab time this year!

This week we begin quizzes on polyatomic ions and more naming quizzes for anyone not scoring 100% on quiz 1. Practice makes permanent!

    • signed syllabus acknowledgement
    • signed safety contract

I look forward to an exciting and challenging year!
